News Letter - Friday 9th May 2008

Mrs Vernon will be attending a Leadership Course for Headteachers in Swansea. The course will take place on Wednesday through to Friday. Mrs Potter will be available in the office.

May we please remind you all that dinner money should be paid weekly in a green envelope, clearly marked with your child's name, class and amount. Please ask you child's class teacher to check in the dinner register so that you can pay any amounts outstanding, as we have to answer to County for each dinner.

Mr Brown will be attending Teaching and Learning Pedagogy course this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - This will help with next years teaching of Foundation Phase in Years 1 and 2.

Could we remind you that healthy snack money is 80p per week. Please give it to your child's teacher or the office. Children are also allowed to bring small bottles of water to school, which can be refilled from the fountains. This means the children always have access to cool, filtered water throughout the day.

Children in Reception will be watching "Tales from Small Nations" on Wednesday.

May we remind you that in line with our healthy schools initative, no sweets in lunch boxes and please put no more than one chocolate biscuit per child.

The PTA are now looking at prices for a soft tarmac area at the front of the school.

Can you all please remind your child that should they be upset with another child on the playground that they are to put their hand up in a stop position and say "Stop you are hurting my feelings" This is to encourage them to deal with feelings of anger or frustration in a positive way.

Please don't forget to telephone school if your child is absent. Please do leave a message on the answering machine - we listen to them regulary. Thank you.

To celebrate St David's Day we will as usual be holding our Eisteddford this year on Friday February 29th. The entries for each year group have their own theme:

Reception children can draw or paint a Welsh dragon or daffodil;
Year One children can draw, paint or make a collage of a Welsh flag;
Year Two children can research any Welsh legend, and present what they find out as a poster, booklet etc.

Our St.David's Day celebration will also be Marie Curie Daffodil day. Children will be able to buy a daffodil from Marie Curie Cancer Care for 50p and can wear something red or Welsh National costume.

Our Easter Bonnet Parade will be on Thursday March 20th. All children are welcome to make their own Easter Bonnet to take part in the Parade; the most creative Bonnets will be awarded a prize from our Governors, Cllr Horobin and Cllr Cooper.
